The wait is over… the results of the Heather Scarecrow Festival 2026 have been announced!!! There were over 90 scarecrows hand crafted by residents, schools and local businesses that made up the exciting trail.

The visiting public vote for their favourite top three scarecrows and their favourite school’s scarecrow, and this year, ‘Monsters Incrowporated’ took the top spot, with ‘Toy Straw-y’ taking second place, and ‘Every Life has a story’ scooping third. Also on the winners list was an amazing towering Artemis space rocket, a giant straw bale cow with goggly eyes, and a floating Genie from Aladdin, along with a host more.

HSSP are a proud sponsor of the festival and our entry this year was ‘Mr Scarecrow’ from Peppa Pig who was joined by none other than Peppa and George themselves!

Our Ros was honoured and delighted to be asked again to judge The Di Everett Award for the theme ‘best use of straw’. This went to ‘Six-Seven’ for their 6’7” basketball player as creating a whole person who is very tall with a body that has definition and even sculpted biceps, is exceptionally difficult to do with straw.

Congratulations to all the winners, and a huge well done and a thank you to all the creators, organisers and everyone who has been involved. It’s a fun day out for everyone, and whilst looking at the scarecrows there is also a Treasure Hunt to partake in by finding the miniature Sammy Scarecrows dotted around the displays. All funds raised directly benefit the local community.
