BRIEF

Designing new branches, flagship branches, and fit outs for Travis Perkins, the UK’s largest building merchants, to showcase their tens of thousands of trade quality products in building materials centres, storage yards, showrooms, and customer facing trade counters. Whilst behind the scenes are mezzanine storage areas, office spaces, and staff areas with welfare facilities.

CHALLENGES

Travis Perkins branches are designed to realise the maximum commerciality from their chosen sites by providing the optimum customer offering and product availability, matched with practicality, safety and staff welfare. The locations and previous uses of the sites, tends to mean each project has its own unique challenges that our experienced commercial architects’ team resolves as part of the design process whether it be for a new branch, new flagship branch, or the conversion and retrofit of an existing shell complemented with new extensions. They are aesthetically pleasing buildings adorned in the Travis Perkins’ green and yellow colourway, with steel frames at their core.

SOLUTIONS

With Benchmarx being part of the Travis Perkins group, the branches benefit from trade counters and showrooms for each of the brands offerings. We undertake master planning and implement directional traffic flow in the yards and service areas to ensure customer and staff safety with HGV, van and car movements, and make sure everything is co-ordinated for the project including signage and lighting. Energy efficiency and environmental considerations are ever more at the fore with high quality landscaping schemes bringing biodiversity, solar panels creating electricity, and the addition of electric car charging points.
