Barn Conversion 1

A once vital element to agricultural life, namely a grain storage building, which had become disused as time marched on, is set to be transformed into a spectacular family home as HSSP Architects have achieved planning permission through Part Q.

The existing steel framed building has mid-height concrete panels and metal cladding above. The frame will remain, but a new brick external skin, and timber over-cladding to the walls will upgrade the exterior yet keep it true to the essence of its roots.

A stunning double height entrance hall seamlessly gives way to the equally glorious dual height dining, kitchen and family area which boasts floor to ceiling glazing to take advantage of the beautiful views.

A new first floor partial mezzanine with glazed gallery is perfect for interconnecting upstairs and downstairs with its outlook over the double height space, whilst hosting 4 bedrooms, ensuites, a dressing room, family bathroom and a study.

Downstairs has been designed with inclusivity in mind, with one bedroom and en-suite located on the ground floor to meet the design requirements of Life Time Homes, or they can double as a guest suite.

Bifold doors to the new patio area really unite the spaces and bring the outside in, whilst the upstairs balcony running the full width of the new home provides a dreamy escape from the master suite. Perfect for watching the sun set and the twinkling stars of a night sky.

The home has a robustness to its exterior, with windows kept to a minimum and scaled down in size to reaffirm the barn like characteristics, yet it has a real openness and flow running through its interior.

It’s a wonderful home to be and we cannot wait to watch its build and see its eventual completion. If you own an agricultural building that you feel would be ripe for conversion, why not get in touch with us?
